1835 - Thompson Variants

There are two versions of this variant,

Firstly the Full Thompson which uses 1 , 2 & 3 below

Secondly the Half Thompson which uses 1 , 2 & 4 below

The Changes are

  1. All the items in the Start Pack are available immediately.

  2. For the purchase of the Start Packet only the dealing order is amended to be as follows:
Turn 1 and subsequent odd numbered turns - normal order
Turn 2 and subsequent even numbered turns - reverse order
Therefore the dealing for a 5 player game goes:
Player 1, Player 2, Player 3, Player 4, Player 5, Player 5, Player 4, Player 3, Player 2, Player 1, Player 1, Player 2, and so on until the Start Packet is sold out.
If the Start Packet is not sold out in the first Stock Round (SR) this alternation of turn order is continued in subsequent SRs until the Start packet is finally sold out.
When the Start Packet is sold out the remainder of the current SR then continues normally, but with the direction currently in use.
Once the Start Packet is sold out all subsequent SR's use the normal dealing order.

  3. Once the SxE is sold out all the other companies, except the PrE, are available and can be purchased in any order.
When the first Director's certificate after the SxE is purchased the PrE shares are also available, note that there is no change to the way that the PrE is formed.

  4. All companies in a Sales Group must be sold out before the next Sales Group* becomes available.
All the companies in a Sales Group become available at the same time.
There is no restriction to the order in which these Director's certificate can be purchased.
There is no requirement for any company to be sold out before another Director's certificate in the group is purchased.
The PrE shares are not available until the first Director's certificate of Sales Group 2 has been purchased, note that there is no change to the way that the PrE is formed.

  5. * Sales Group is defined here.

Note that there are no changes to:

  1. The conditions concerning the formation of the PrE.

  2. The cost or properties of any trains.

  3. The way that companies operate.

  4. The properties of the phases.

  5. The tile set.
